Oolong tea is semi-fermented – that means they are somewhere between green tea and fully fermented black teas in colour, taste and fragrance. Low in caffeine, yet more stimulating than green or white tea, Oolongs are among the world’s most diverse and complex tasting teas.
The tea leaves can be re-infused as many as seven - ten times after you have finished enjoying the first cup, with minimal reduction in the strength of the flavour. Like other teas Oolong is rich in antioxidants called polyphenols. These help prevent cancer, keep the heart healthy and aid general well-being. Additionally, this kind of tea also has a positive effect on cholesterol and blood fat levels. This fact was already apprehended thousands of years ago in China, as the tea plant is one of the oldest herbs used in traditional Chinese medicine.
